Experience
My diverse experience brings a wide range of skills crafted to meet the needs of women, their babies and families. I have experience working in tertiary Brisbane hospitals in both Maternity settings (Birth Suite, Postnatal Ward, Antenatal Ward and Antenatal Clinic) and in Paediatrics. My love for midwifery soared when most recently, I worked in a caseload model of care providing service to women from pregnancy through to six weeks postpartum. Here I learned the incredible value of continuity of care. I am ecstatic about my role as a Midwife at My Midwives and having the ability to provide outstanding care in a truly woman-focused way respecting the physiology of birth.
Midwifery Interest
From a wide-eyed first year midwifery student, as soon as I was privileged to share the birthing space with a woman, I was hooked (line and sinker!). Honouring women to learn their grace, strength and power in their most vulnerable moments is my driving force in my midwifery career. I feel so fortunate to equip women in their journey to motherhood throughout all stages of their pregnancy, birth and postpartum to feel knowledgeable and empowered so they can make choices that resonate with them and their families. There is no other space in midwifery that I would rather be than entrenched in a woman’s journey right from the beginning and being there for them the entire way. As a lover of academia, I feel passionate about ensuring I discover quality, evidence-based research and apply it in practice to ensure women and their families receive excellent care, every single time.
Personal Interest
I find the calming force of nature to be magical and can be found either by the seaside for sunset walks with my husband or at a local reserve for morning runs (maybe jogs!). Time to time I also keep testing my knees by playing my favourite team sport, netball.
