Experience
My career in healthcare started as a Registered Nurse eight years ago, where I worked on a specialised renal andurology ward at Westmead Hospital. This formed a sturdy foundation for my career in caring for others, providing me invaluable experience and knowledge.
After my own experience of entering motherhood, I yearned to learn more about midwifery and the process of matrescence. I eagerly completed my training and graduate year at Campbelltown Hospital NSW. It was during this time that I appreciated the profound impact I could make by supporting women 1:1 during their journey into motherhood.
Eventually, my family and I made the bold decision to move to the remote town of Bourke NSW. I served as the sole midwife for the Bourke Aboriginal Maternal Infant Health Service, providing antenatal and postnatal care to expectant mothers and their infants. The experience was both humbling and rewarding, allowing me to witness the strength and resilience of these women firsthand.
After three fulfilling years in Bourke, I decided to embark on a new adventure. Taking on locum midwifery positions for three months, I had the opportunity to further broaden my horizons and contribute my skills to various healthcare settings. These temporary positions allowed me to adapt quickly and provided a wealth of diverse experiences.
Now, I stand at a crossroads in my career, ready for the next chapter. With great excitement, I have chosen to relocate toAlice Springs in the NT to join the remarkable Alukura MGP Team. The prospectof working alongside like-minded Midwives who share my passion for providingexceptional individualised care to Indigenous mothers and their babies fills mewith joy and anticipation.
