Experience
After having lived overseas for nine years, I returned to Australia determined to fulfil my dream of becoming a midwife. As a student, I was able to gain experience in both public and private hospitals, but neither of these models came close to the experience I have gained with My Midwives. When I began working with My Midwives as a third-year student in Brisbane, I told them that they would never be able to get rid of me. So, I was all too keen to move to Toowoomba when I was offered a graduate position. Being supported by my team has been transformative to my practice and I am so grateful to now work alongside them as a private midwife.
Midwifery Interest
My first passion lies within continuity of care, having the ability to build a relationship with a family and support them through one of the most important periods of their life is incredibly rewarding. Further to this, I am discovering that I have a particular interest in educating people around options for maternity care. There are many women who do not know that you can access private midwifery care throughout pregnancy, nor do they realise the positive impact it can have on their birthing experience and future health when compared to other care models. Imagine the difference we would see in our birth statistics if this was common knowledge!
Personal Interest
I have two gorgeous fur babies, a dog and a cat who are best friends. Unfortunately, my cat is super independent and doesn’t need me, so I spend a lot of time outside with my dog. We love going to parks, the farmers markets and going on mini road trips. I am quite an active person and enjoy playing tennis and practicing yoga. I do also like my downtime, which involves either reading a book or making delicious treats in the kitchen. Of course, time with family and friends is always treasured, especially when it involves my gorgeous nieces and nephew.
