Experience

I have been lucky to have had many midwifery experiences in my career ranging from a; remote midwife in an aboriginal community in WA, caring for women with high risk pregnancies in a tertiary hospital, mentoring the next generation of midwives and supporting young women to become mothers. I have been and am a home birth midwife working in continuity of midwifery care at My Midwives from Brisbane's inception. I am one of the lucky, few first eligible private practicing midwives in Australia. I am also a mother myself to two beautiful little girls who are just starting school, who bring a smile to my face every day. I have received care from My Midwives, with Karen, for my second pregnancy. A lived experience is something very special.

midwifery interest of employee

Midwifery Interest

Being a midwife is a large part of who I am, midwifery is my lifelong passion and makes me a better person each day, walking beside women and their families. I love building trusting, nurturing, respectful, safe, informative and caring relationships with the women and the families I care for. I am very passionate about continuity of midwifery care and believe this should be available for each and every family.

I love spending time with my husband, my wonderful family and friends. These people light up my life. I love to sing, eat amazing food, travel and read a good book. My work at the Australian College of Midwives in Queensland is important and will assist in helping expand continuity of midwifery care options increase. Our vision at My Midwives is to expand this option of care, to make it available for all families in Australia.
